Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Reporting To: Head of Commercial
The Role
Working on predominantly for BladeRoom Data Centre side of our business, the QS will seek to minimise costs and risks associated with our mission critical modular projects, and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality. This includes statutory buildings are met.
The QS will work closely with the wider project and sales teams, to prepare estimates and costs of the work at the onset of the project and when in progress. They will track variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Collation and submission of client variations in accordance with NEC4 requirements.
- Analysis and administration of sub-contractor variations in accordance with NEC4 requirements.
- Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies (live project work and post-contract variations).
- Collation and issuing of sub-contractor tender enquiries.
- Collation and issuing of sub-contractor orders (bespoke short form & NEC4 form).
- Monitoring of project costs, including monthly cost value reconciliations.
- Submission of client applications for payment.
- Administration & payment of sub-contractor applications for payment.
- Regular visits to our Gloucestershire assembly facility and client project sites to review progress.
- Assist in preparation and analysis of project costs for tender contract documents.
- Perform risk, value management and cost control during the project.
- Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
- Other contract administration requirements as required.

- Work effectively within a dedicated commercial team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
A background in Construction, Engineering or Manufacturing is essential.
Knowledge
- Knowledge and experience of NEC3/NEC4 contracting (essential).
- Knowledge and experience of construction projects and materials.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of product specification and managing costs within the supply chain.
Experience
- Experience of dealing with high value clients and sub-contractors.
- Experience of working on high value projects (ideally £30m plus).
- Experience of data centre construction.
- Experience of groundworks / civils (to potentially assist on our Healthcare schemes).
- Estimating experience.
Skills (Personal)
- Able to work on own initiative and as well as part of a wider Commercial or Project team.
- Able to communicate and demonstrate a professional approach to external Clients and Supply Chain Senior Management.
- Good people management and communication skills.
- Management of time and be able to prioritise tasks whilst also being flexible and adaptable in their approach.

Skills (Technical)
- Demonstrate an ability and understanding of the products used with the business framework.
- Capable of working through, developing and introducing spreadsheets and trackers.
